This page explains what SmartHomeReviewed (smarthomereviewed.com) does and does not do with information about you. The short version: we don't ask for your personal information, and we don't run ads or analytics trackers on this site.

What we collect

Nothing directly through the site. The site has no accounts, no comment sections, no contact or signup forms, and no newsletter. We don't ask for your name, email address or any other personal details on the site.

If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use them only to reply to you.

Cookies and local storage

We don't set cookies. The one thing the site stores in your browser is your light/dark mode choice (a theme entry in your browser's local storage) so the page doesn't flip colors on every visit. It stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it any time in your browser settings.

The search box and filters on our review and category pages run entirely in your browser; what you type is not sent anywhere.

Analytics and advertising

We don't currently use analytics, advertising pixels or tracking scripts, and the site loads no third-party scripts, fonts or embedded content. If that ever changes, we'll update this page first.

Server logs

Like any website, this site is hosted on Netlify, which may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps) for security and operations. We don't use these logs to identify individual visitors.

Affiliate links and third parties

Many product links on this site are affiliate links, mainly to Amazon through the Amazon Associates program, and some to manufacturers. When you click one, you leave our site, and that company's own privacy policy and cookies apply. The link carries our affiliate ID so the retailer can credit us for a qualifying purchase; it doesn't include any information about you from us. RSS feed

The Problem Product Watchlist has an RSS feed. Subscribing is done through your feed reader; we don't receive subscriber details.

Where our review data comes from

Our sentiment scores are built from publicly available posts and comments (for example YouTube comments and public forum discussions). The site also shows short quotes from those public posts, each with a link to the original. We don't publish personal details beyond what the original public post shows.

Your choices

Email support@smarthomereviewed.comto ask what information we hold about you, to have it deleted, or to request removal of a quote from a post you wrote.

Children

This site is written for adults and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If we change how the site works in a way that affects this policy, we'll update this page and the date above.
